Keeta Gladue

Keeta Gladue is an Indigenous futurist, scholar, and researcher committed to advancing academic integrity through ethical and culturally responsive research practices. Cree + Métis, Keeta draws on over 14 years of experience in Indigenous post-secondary education and a transdisciplinary academic background to foster change and inspire transformation in higher education.

Her research fields include Indigenizing academic integrity, post-secondary student mental health, and addressing perfectionism and racial gaslighting in academic contexts. Keeta is currently working on scholarship that explores Indigenous perspectives on artificial intelligence in post-secondary education and research.

A two-time TEDx speaker and a passionate advocate for equity, she weaves storytelling, humour, and critical inquiry into her work, bridging Indigenous and Western knowledge systems. Her philosophy is rooted in community-centered values, guided by the motto: ‘Together, we can do better.’”

Keeta is currently the Manager of the Indigenous Research Support Team in the Research Services Office at the University of Calgary. 


Phil Newton

Phil Newton is a neuroscientist, researcher and professor at the University of Swansea in Wales, United Kingdom.  Prior to joining the University of Swansea spent eight years conducting research in neurology at the University of California in San Francisco.

His current research focuses on evidence-based approaches to learning, teaching and assessment in higher education, with a particular focus on assessment integrity and design. He teaches neuroscience across a variety of programmes and leads teaching focused on the evidence base for educational practice.

Professor Newton’s career in academia spans 25 years and has seen him in a variety of leadership positions, including the Director of Academic Integrity, the Director of Teaching and Learning, and an Associate Dean.  He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and an Honorary Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators.
